We’re pleased to recognize our practices’ commitment to supporting community organizations and truly embodying our value “We Dare”. This past quarter, through the Community Grant program, we were proud to support a diverse range of charities, including a volunteer-run food bank, a camp for children recovering from burns, a center for injured and orphaned wildlife, and an organization dedicated to supporting 2SLGBTQIA youth with mental health services, practical supports, and housing.
The team at Princess Animal Hospital (Kingston, ON) donated their $1,500 Community Grant to Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs whose mission is to provide trained service dogs and their ongoing handling support to physically and emotionally challenged persons and their families, helping them to become more independent within their Southeastern Ontario communities.
“Dr. Ouellet and I had the privilege of attending the very first graduation ceremony for Kingston 4 Paws. It was incredibly moving to hear the stories shared—like the parents who can now sleep through the night knowing their son’s seizure alert dog will wake them if needed, or the individuals once housebound by crippling anxiety who can now grocery shop independently. One particularly touching story was that of a veteran with PTSD who, through the support of his service dog, gained the confidence and emotional stability to become a foster parent—after even choosing to let his dog go on to help someone else in need. Knowing that we play even a small part in caring for these amazing dogs, helping prepare them to go out and change lives, is truly rewarding.” – Monica, RVT & Practice Manager at Princess Animal Hospital
The team at Southern Alberta Veterinary Emergency (Okotoks, AB) chose to donate their $1,500 Community Grant to Foothills Country Hospice Society.
“This generous Community Grant will directly support patient care—the heart of our operations. At Foothills Country Hospice, patients stay at no cost for their room and meals. In an environment of peace and dignity, supported by an exceptional care team and volunteers, families can share moments together as loved ones, not caregivers. This meaningful gift of time brings comfort during life’s most difficult moments and leaves a lasting sense of peace in the hearts of those left behind.” – Shannon Maksymich, Fund Development Officer at Foothills Country Hospice Society
“As animal caregivers, we understand how important end-of-life care is. Several of us have experienced family members receiving hospice care and know firsthand how much of an impact this type of care has on the families of terminally ill patients. We are glad the families in the Foothills have access to this type of resource near home and feel grateful to be able to support this resource in our
community.” – The team at Southern Alberta Veterinary Emergency

The Community Grants program is a meaningful way for our practices to contribute to their communities and build team spirit. Grants can be used to support a local charity addressing animal welfare or of wider relevance to the local community, such as a school, mental health charity, organization supporting the 2SLGBTQIA community, social service agency or a community food bank.
